Cookbook Review and Give-Away! Rachael Ray: Yum-o, the family cookbook

|
A while back I had ordered some cookbooks online. When they got delivered I realized that I had recieved a copy of Rachael Ray: Yum-o, the family cookbook. When I called the company they informed me that it was a promotional item and that it was mine to keep.

Considering it was a Rachael Ray cookbook... I was excited to try out some of the recipes inside.

So, I sat down the the kiddos and shuffled through the pages trying to figure out which recipes to try first. Some of them have became household staples for us. Here are a few of our favorites...

  • Apple Flapjacks
  • Monkey Spread French Toast
  • Pseudo Sushi (a dessert roll)
  • Spicy Tomato and Tuna Spaghetti

That's just to name a few. She has crammed so much into this tiny cookbook. All the recipes are super simple, and most can be done with things you normally have around the house. She also lists the steps in every recipe that the kids can help with. There are a lot of recipes that were made by kids for kids and she gives you a lot of tips on how to eat better as a family. There are even what she calls "Rollover suppers", which tells you how to use up your leftovers.

One of my favorite parts was The Lunchboxes That Rock chapter. I have a kiddo who ALWAYS wants to take her lunch, so this was really helpful!

This cookbook forever has a place in our house... and it will in one lucky reader's as well! That's right... I'm giving away a copy!!!!

Just leave me a comment telling me your favorite kid-friendly recipe! Be sure to leave me your email, so I can get in touch with you if you win!

My sister and mother have a hard time getting one of my nephews to eat. they usually add bacon to mac & cheese and I have added double the amount of zucchini to zucchini bread when I make it. his train of thaought is that the only food groups out there are pizza and chocolate and bread. So the fact that he doesn't know about the zucchini is great.

My favorite kid-friendly recipe is lentil tacos. My daughter does not enjoy meat, and I have found a great taco recipe using spiced tomato sauce and lentils. It's delicious and she LOVES it. She also likes lentil sloppy joes. Thank you so much!

My favorite kid friendly meal is Crunchy Cheesy chicken fingers.

Just roll some boneless, skinless chicken breast, that have been cut into finger size, in a mixture of sour cream and taco seasoning, then rolled into some crushed up cheeze it crackers. Place in a casserole dish and pour a tablespoon of melted butter over the chicken. Bake it at 375 for about 20-30 minutes, till it is golen brown. That's it. Easy, cheesy and kids love it.
